Brandon Township Road Order
State of Minnesota, County of Douglas, Town of Brandon
Whereas: Upon the discussions between the City of Brandon Council and the Township Board of the Township of Brandon, these local government entities no longer see the need for the short connecting township road between the City of Brandon at Anderson St. and Douglas County #7, a township road which has not been maintained for at least 8 years.
And Whereas: Upon further discussion at the December 9 monthly town meeting the supervisors of the Township of Brandon passed a motion to set January 21, 2014, 7 pm at the Brandon Community Center as the time and place to hear and act upon the motion and ordered the town clerk to post public notice and send notices to the residents of the land affected by the vacation of Brandon Township Road connecting the City of Brandon to Douglas County 7. The public notices have been posted and the land owners of the affected land have been sent written notice of the January 21, 2014 meeting.
And Whereas: Since this small connecting road from Anderson St. in the City of Brandon to Douglas County # 7 with no known name has not been maintained since the rebuilding of Co. 7 and given that neither the Brandon Township Government nor the City of Brandon Council has no interest in redeveloping this connecting road or maintaining the right-of-way for this road.
And Whereas: Action on this resolution was tabled at the January 21, 2014 meeting until contact was made with Otter Tail Power. The new date for considering this resolution has been set for February 25, 7 pm at the Brandon Community Center on a motion by Croonquist, seconded by Fynboh, and carried. Otter Tail Power has been notified and new notices have been sent to the landowners. Brandon City has agreed to maintain the 75 feet on the north end of this road which abuts Anderson Street to give access to the Otter Tail Power sub station.
Be it Resolved: That the Brandon Township Road connecting the City of Brandon at Anderson St. to Douglas County # 7 in the northwest corner of Section twenty-eight (28) and the northeast corner of section twenty-nine (29)Brandon Township (129), Range thirty-nine (39) be vacated, but not to include the last 75 feet on the north end that abuts Anderson St. in the City of Brandon which the city of Brandon will maintain as an access to the Otter Tail Power sub station. The vacated areas are to be restored to the respected owners of the plots that border on this vacated area of Brandon Township Road.
