Brandon Township Meeting Minutes  January 18, 2011 The regular monthly meeting of the Brandon Township Board was held on Monday, January 18, 2011 at the Brandon Community Center with Paul Lauthen, Michael Cleary, Jennifer Lanners, Diane Smith and Adrian Ledermann present. The meeting was called to order by Mike Cleary at 7:00 p.m.  The pledge of allegiance was recited. Clerks Report:  The minutes of the December 21st meeting were addressed.   The minutes were approved on a motion by Lanners, seconded by Lauthen and carried. Treasurer’s Report:  Beginning balance on 12/01/2010 was <$18,265.67>.   Interest from Revenue on account at Bremer was $2.36.  Other income was $98,179.71.  Orders issued were $61,264.41 for a total ending balance of $18,651.99.  Investments reported included Tar & Road Fund received $88.60 in interest to now total $206,732.51   Motion made by Lauthen, seconded by Lanners, to approve report; carried.   Public CommentNo visitors present Agenda Approval:  Agenda was approved with no additional items Old Business:  a.  Bond repayment was reported.  b. Road and Sign update.  Lanners reported on # of signs in township.  Some clarification needed as to which signs county is responsible for and which township is.   Traffic sign handbook was provided.  Lanners will draw up proposed policy.c. Smith is working on workers comp audit.d. Lanners reported on gathering info about whether to proceed with animal control ordinance, as dog problems still present. New Business:a.  No land permits were reviewed.b. Calcium chloride request from county will be returned after Feb. meeting.   Ledermann will check with Big Chip and Sara Roads as to need.  Cleary requested Walleye road not be included in 2011.c. Board of Audit date was set for Feb.22 at 6:30 p.m. before regular Feb. meeting.d. AAEDC meeting and dinner to be held at Douglas Scientific on Jan. 24.  Cleary, Lauthen, Lanners and Ledermann plan to attend.e. Lobby Day on the hill will be March 2.  No one plans to attend from Brandon township.f.  Brandon fire Department budget request of $24,410 will be put on the levy request at the March annual meeting.g. Board will review budget at the board of audit meeting, and look at budget needs for 2011.  Smith reported that for 2010, general budget spent $32,552.32; fire budget spent $24,034.84; road and bridge spent $73,868.44.  Bond repayment budget was almost $110.000.00h.  County Assessor Keith Smith sent an update on assessor training and dates.  All Brandon supervisors are qualified for the next two years.i. MATIT claims are to be submitted before Feb. 23, 2011.  Lauthen will check on claim for windshield on grader.j. Annual meeting agenda items.  Board to take a look at possible agenda items for the annual meeting on March 8, 2011.   Potential items include setting tax levy, fire department request,  road sign maintenance policy, supervisor term discussion and clerk/treasurer appointment discussion. Claims and Wages:  Claims and wages requests were presented and viewed by the board.  Claims included:  DM Stamps & Specialties - $27.47 for notary stamp; Adrian Ledermann- $65.17 for office supplies; Douglas County Auditor/Treasurer- $133.97 for TNT notices; Otter Tail Power- $81.41 for shop electricity; Kris Engineering, Inc.- $545.41 for cutting edges on plow; IRS- $378.09 for 4th Qt; PERA - $96.40 for 4th Qt.; Michael Cleary-$35.50 for mileage; Anderson Excavating-$110.00 for truck repair; West Central MN Petroleum-$1,749.45 for diesel.  Claims and Wages were order paid on a motion by Lanners seconded by Lauthen, and approved. Next month meeting will be on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011 due to Presidents Day  holiday. The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 p.m.Adrian Ledermann, clerk
