Brandon Township Meeting Minutes - July 19, 2010 The regular monthly meeting of the Brandon Township Board was held on Monday, July 19, 2010 at the Brandon Community Center with Paul Lauthen, Michael Cleary, Jennifer Lanners, Diane Smith and Adrian Ledermann present. The meeting was called to order by Paul Lauthen at 7:00 p.m.  The pledge of allegiance was recited. Clerks Report:  The minutes of the June 21st meeting were addressed.   The minutes were approved after one correction of the amount for the amount of West Central Petrol bill to $1559.99, with a motion by Lanners, seconded by Cleary, and carried.   Treasurer’s Report:  Beginning balance on 6/01/2010 was $2,648.43.   Interest from Revenue on account at Bremer was $ .19. Other Income was $20,000.00 of fund transfer from MM account.  Orders issued were $19,642.75 for a total ending balance of $3,005.87.  Investments reported included Tar & Road Fund received $100.90 in interest and $20,000.00 transferred out to now total $125,058.82.  CD #141683 now totals $60,498.18.   Motion made by Cleary, seconded by Lanners, to approve report; carried.  Cleary will check with Bremer Bank on Money Market interest rates. Public CommentTwo visitors present, but did not bring forth any new business.  Clerk reported that Roll With It has requested a gambling license for Long Lake Lodge for a fund raiser.  On a motion by Cleary, seconded by Lanners, approval was given for the fund raiser. Old Business:  a. Lanners and Lauthen attended the Board of Review training in Elbow Lake.b.  Road review:  *Additional Graveling has been completed on Nursery Lane.            *Repair on Wallen, Chippewa Heights and Shorewood Lane will not be done this year.  Douglas County will do striping the next time they are in the area on these roads.            *Signs:  Lanners has mapped out all signs in Brandon Township as the first step in the plan and is working on a spread sheet indicating the dates of replacement with new signs            * Cleary reported on tree damage over road at Shorewood Ln.   He authorized Klimek Tree to clean up down trees and Bob's Backhoe to repair dirt damage.  Cleary indicated that Klimeks were very prompt in getting the work done. c. Township building remodeling of original proposal has been done by Ness.  A new service door needs to be put in and will be done by Ness.d.  MATIT insurance coverage additions to $50,000.00 for the building and $50,000.00 for the grader was approved with a motion by Lauthen , seconded by Cleary and passed.e.  Ledermann noted that a new resolution needs to be passed after August 1, 2010 should Brandon Township want to put a six year supervisor term on the ballot for November.  After discussion Ledermann will bring a proposed resolution to the August meeting for a decision. f.  Chloride checks are being received regularly. New Business:a.  Three land use permits were reviewed.b. Election filing dates of Aug 3-Aug. 17 were again announced for November election.  Clerk will be posting notices prior to filing dates.c. On a motion by Lanners, seconded by Cleary, the following election judges were appointed for 2010 elections.  Julianna Pomerantz, Bob and Barb Jacobson, Marcia Bolin, Gaylin Croonquist, Janelle Eddy, Jen Lanners, Mike Cleary, Adrian Ledermann, and Paul Lauthen.   Diane Smith has already been appointed head judge; she will schedule the judges for the primary and general elections.d.  Weed control.   Clerk will be sending one letter to a property on Chippewa Hts road. Claims and Wages.  Claims were presented and viewed by the board.  Claims included: Bob's Adium -$$95.83 for mower fuel; Etc. Sings-$144.28 for signs; Evansville Township-$107.10 for gravel; MN Association of Townships-$203.00 for additional insurance coverage; Gardonville-$14.95 for internet; Scott Kent-$10.00 for gopher bounty; Otter Tail Power-$54.54 for shop electricity; Okerlund Graveling-$4,017.00 for gravel; Bill Ness Construction-$877.00 for shop repair; IRS-$641.86 for 2nd qt.; PERA--$181.86 for 2nd qt.  Bremer Bank-$54,963.29 for bond repayment.  Claims and wages were ordered to be paid on a motion by Lanners, seconded by Cleary and carried. Adjournment:  The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 p.m. on a motion by Lanners,  seconded by Lauthen, and carried. Next monthly Meeting will be Monday, August 16.Primary elections at the Brandon Auditorium on August 10, 2010 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Adrian Ledermann, clerk.
