Brandon Township Meeting Minutes - March 15, 2010 The regular monthly meeting of the Brandon Township Board was held on Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Brandon Community Center with Paul Lauthen, Michael Cleary, Jennifer Lanners, Diane Smith and Adrian Ledermann present. The meeting was called to order by Paul Lauthen at 7:00 p.m. The pledge of allegiance was recited. Clerks Report: The minutes of the February 16th meeting were addressed. The minutes were approved with a motion by Cleary, seconded by Lanners, and carried. Treasurer’s Report: Beginning balance 2/01/2010 was $13,450.54. Interest from Revenue on account at Bremer was $.58. Other income from Douglas Co. taxes was $2,435.76 and $15,148.96 and for road acct.$3,569.30. Orders issued were $1,593.98 for a total ending balance of $29,441.86. Investments reported included Tar & Road Fund received $57.89 in interest to now total $94,392.31; CD #141683 now totals $60,123.44; and CD #141685 now totals $50,000. Motion made by Cleary, seconded by Lanners, to approve report; carried. Public Comment: Two visitors were present. Michelle Saffel reported that the BCWD Inc, has sent a letter to state legislators seeking funding to help cover costs for failed sewer project. Old Business: a. Ledermann commented on the township annual meeting noting the small turnout and that the election resolution passed in 2009 has already included the 6 year term designation for supervisors. But since the legislation that provided for that designation was vetoed by the governor and then passed anew in 2010 and signed by the governor, he will seek counsel from the MN state township attorney on whether a new resolution must be put on the ballot this November. New Business a. Line item budget planning info was presented. The board saw no need for line item budgeting, but will look for quarterly interim reportsb. Officer appointments for supervisors will be made after the November elections. For 2010, Ledermann was again appointed to the Lakes Area Planning Agency, Lauthen to weed inspector, Lanners and Cleary to local animal control.c. gravel quote notice will be published indicating a need for class 5 gravel. Okerlund has indicated that any time the township wants a sample of gravel tested by the state, it will be available.d. Lauthen and Cleary will install a sign on Vista Traile. Treasurer Smith was directed to renew CD #141685 for 6 months at Brandon Bremer. Claims and Wages: Claims were presented and viewed by the board. Claims included The Record- $8.50 for public notices; Douglas County Public Works- $120.40 for salt/sand; City of Brandon-$133.65 for water/sewer; Luckys Propane-$910.00 for propane; West Central Petroleum-$1,290.92 for diesel; Computer Specialists-$60.81 for computer supplies; Otter Tail Power-$75.88 for shop electricity; Minnesota Benefit Association-$405.00 for group life; Douglas County Auditor-$76.09 for ditch benefits; Douglas County Assn of Townships-$17.50 for meeting; Diane Smith-$25.00 for offices supplies; Adrian Ledermann-$24.23 for office and mileage; Mike Cleary_$15.00 for mileage. Also approved was check of $45.00 board member to Minnesota Association of Townships for short course. Claims and wages were ordered to be paid on a motion by Cleary, seconded by Lanners and carried. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m. on a motion by Lanners, seconded by Cleary and approved. Next monthly Meeting will be Monday, April 19, 2010. Adrian Ledermann, clerk.
