Brandon Township Meeting, Monday, March 16, 2020
March, 2020 Meeting Minutes (Unofficial)
The regular monthly meeting was held on March 16, 2020, at the Brandon Community Center with Supervisors Kerby Lund, Dennis Lund and Bryan Meichsner present together with Treasurer Kathy Zimmerman, Clerk Mike Cleary and Township Engineer, Jeff Stabnow. With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. The pledge of allegiance was recited by all.
Approval of Agenda: The agenda was approved as presented on a motion by Dennis and a second by Bryan. Motion carried 3-0.
Approval of Minutes: Reading of the minutes of the February 18, 2020 Board of Audit and the February 18, 2020 Monthly Meeting was waved and the minutes were approved on a motion by Bryan and a second by Dennis. Motion carried 3-0.
Treasurer’s Report: Beginning cash and investment balance on 2/1/2020 was $391,406.00. March, 2020 receipts and disbursements were $26,336.60 and $49,032.82, respectively, resulting in an ending balance of $368,709.78 at 2/29/2020. A motion to approve the treasurer's report was made by Kerby and seconded by Bryan. Motion carried 3-0. Motion made by Bryan with a second by Dennis to cash the two Bremer Bank Certificates of Deposit totaling $100,000 and to invest the proceeds in the money market account. Motion carried 3-0.
Road and Equipment-
a. Spring road inspection will take place during the week of April 13, 2020 weather permitting.
a. Motion by Bryan and second by Kerby to approve 2021 contributions of $2,300.00 to the AAEDC and $29,930.96 to the Brandon Fire Department as recommended at the Annual Township Meeting held on March 10, 2020. Motion carried 3-0.
b. Motion by Dennis to donate $200.00 to the Douglas County Historical Society and $200.00 to the Brandon History Center to assist in the preservation of Brandon Township records and history. Motion was seconded by Bryan. Motion carried 3-0.
c. It was noted that the Presidential Nomination Primary on March 10, 2020 cost the township $1,257. The amount to be reimbursed by the State of Minnesota is yet to be determined. There were only 69 township residents that cast votes at the election.
d. Discussion was held regarding development of a new website for the township. Cleary was instructed to obtain cost estimate for consideration at the April meeting.
Claims and Wages: Motion to approve claims totaling $5,919.46 and to transfer $5,000 from the Money Market Account to the Checking Account by Bryan and a second by Dennis. Motion carried 3-0. The full list of claims is available for public inspection in the Township Clerk’s office.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 pm. The next meeting will be at 7:00 pm Monday, April 20, 2020 at the Brandon Community Center
