September, 2019 Meeting Minutes (Unofficial)
The September township supervisor meeting was held on September 16, 2019, at the Brandon Community Center with Supervisors Dennis Lund and Bryan Meichsner present together with Treasurer, Kathy Zimmerman, Clerk, Mike Cleary and Township Engineer, Jeff Stabnow. Supervisor K. Lund was absent. With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm. The pledge of allegiance was recited by all.
Agenda: Motion by Meichsner and second by D. Lund to approve the agenda. Motion carried 2-0.
Minutes: Motion by Meichsner and second by D. Lund to waive reading of the minutes of the August 19, 2019 supervisor meeting and to approve same. Motion carried 2-0.
Treasurer’s Report: Beginning cash and investment balance on 8/1/19 was $353,747.06. Monthly receipts and disbursements were $6,684.81 and $74,327.43, respectively, resulting in an ending balance of $286,104.44 at 8/30/2019. Motion by Meichsner and second by D. Lund to approve the treasurer's report and the transfer of $52,776.60 from the Equipment Reserve Fund 205 to the Road and Bridge Fund 201. Motion carried 2-0.
Albertson/Roers Culvert: Mike Roers was present to discuss the increase in water ponding on his farm land since the culvert under Wolf Creek Road was replaced. He agreed to reimburse the township the cost of removing the obstruction in the culvert and indicated that he would try to locate the broken/plugged tile on his land causing the standing water. The supervisors agreed to reimburse his repair cost if the damage was in the road right of way and was caused by the township. Motion was made by Meichsner and second by D. Lund to accept the payment of $500 from Roers. Motion carried 2-0.
Tanglewood Rd: Paving is expected to be completed by the end of September, weather permitting.
Wolf Creek Rd: Braun Intertec soil boring report is expected to be available by the October monthly meeting.
Road, Equipment and Building: A quote from RDO Equipment Co regarding the possible trade of the township’s 1985 CAT 140G for a used 2007 CAT 140H was discussed. Motion by Meichsner and second by D. Lund to proceed with the trade at the price quoted. Motion carried 2-0.
Claims and Wages: Motion by Meichsner and second by D. Lund to approve claims and wages totaling $20,622.70 and to transfer $10,000 from the money market account to the checking account. Motion carried 3-0. The full list of claims is available for public inspection in the Township Clerk’s office.
Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 8:07 pm. Next meeting is 7:00pm Monday, October 21, 2019.
