August, 2019 Meeting Minutes (Unofficial)


The July township supervisor meeting was held on August 19, 2019, at the Brandon Community Center with Supervisors Kerby Lund, Dennis Lund and Bryan Meichsner present together with Treasurer Kathy Zimmerman, Clerk Mike Cleary and Township Engineer, Jeff Stabnow.  With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. The pledge of allegiance was recited by all.


Agenda: Motion by Meichsner and second by D. Lund to approve the agenda. Motion carried 3-0.


Minutes: Motion by D. Lund and second by Meichsner to waive reading of the minutes of the July 15, 2019 supervisor meeting and to approve same.  Motion carried 3-0.


Treasurer’s Report: Beginning cash and investment balance on 7/1/19 was $435,396.22.  Monthly receipts and disbursements were $7,538.08 and $89,187.24, respectively, resulting in an ending balance of $353,747.06 at 7/31/2019.   Motion by Meichsner and second by D. Lund to approve the treasurer's report.  Motion carried 3-0.


Tanglewood Rd:


a.        A turnaround area has been constructed at the north end of the road.  Paving is now scheduled for September.  Financing for the paving project has been obtained through Bremer Bank in form of a Certificate of Indebtedness for $200,000 at 3.12% payable over 10 years.


Wolf Creek Rd:


a.       All work has been completed on the repair of this road.  Braun Engineering will do soil borings on Sept 2, 2019 to determine if additional work needs to be done before the road can be paved in 2020.


Road, Equipment and Building:


a.       The purchase of the storage building from Bill and Terry Ness has been completed but has been rented back to the Ness’ on a month to month basis until they can remove all possessions.  Cleary will look into whether easements may need to enable the township to install water and sewer in the future.


Presential Nomination Election:


a.        Cleary informed the supervisors that a new election is to be held on March 3, 2020 to nominate candidates for president in the November, 2020 election.  There is a possibility of receiving partial reimbursement from the State of MN for the extra expense that will be borne by the township in paying election judges.


Claims and Wages: Motion by Meichsner and second by D. Lund to approve claims and wages totaling $73,488.  Motion carried 3-0.  The full list of claims is available for public inspection in the Township Clerk’s office.
