Brandon Township Meeting Minutes – Dec. 17, 2008 

The regular monthly meeting of the Brandon Township Board was held on Monday, December 17, 2008 at the Brandon Community Center with Gaylin Croonquist, Don Buse, Paul Lauthen, Diane Smith and Adrian Ledermann present.

 

The meeting was called to order by the chair, Gaylin Croonquist at 8 p.m.  The pledge of allegiance was recited.

 

Clerks Report:  The minutes of the November meeting were addressed.   The minutes were approved as read with a motion by Buse, seconded by Lauthen, and carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report:  Beginning balance as of 11/01/07 was $4,163.06.   Interest from Revenue on account at Bremer was $1.70. Bank service charge refunded was $10.00.  Other income was $4,863.57.  Orders issued totaling $3,387.69, for a total ending balance of $5,650.64.  Investments reported included Tar & Road Fund received $199.30 in interest to total $61,089.18; 12 month CD renewed for one year totals $54,108.63; and 18 month CD renewed for one year totals $162,755.05.  Motion made by Lauthen, seconded by Buse, to approve report; carried.

 Public Comment:        No visitors present Old Business:

            a.  Sewer update:  Buse reported that Pat Conroy was hired by CLRSD as sec/treas on an hourly rate to begin Jan 1, 2008.  Progress continues on Phase II with hopes to start in 2009.  Miltona is still on hold for permit.  Buse invited Brandon Township board to next meeting.  CRLSD is looking at hiring an attorney if permits go through in case of lawsuits.

 

            b.  Snow plowing and Vplow situations have been taken care of by Croonquist and Lauthen.

 

            c.  Ledermann reported more Chloride reimbursements  Only 1 left and part of Big Chip road left to send payments.

 New Business:

            a.  One land use permit was reviewed.

 

            b.  Smith will complete worker's comp audit

 

            c.  March election notices have been posted along with candidate filing dates

                Ledermann filed for clerk again.  Croonquist again stated his plans to retire.

               Potential candidates for supervisor were discussed.

 

            d.  2008 township calendar was reviewed.  No new orders placed.

 

            e.  Lauthen reported that Eagle pt dr sign has been changed and Little Chip Rd sign has been installed.

 

Claims:   Claims were presented and viewed by the board.  Claims included:  City of Brandon- $15,405.00 for fire contract; Little Falls Machine- $162.11 for grader parts; Mid-States Hydraulic & Machine, Inc - $212.30 for truck parts; John Peterson-$297.23 for truck repair; Rocket Auto Electric - $162.25 for parts; Haabala Repair- $50.00 for plow inspection; Manley International of Alex, Inc- $25.88 for parts; Okerlund Graveling-$216.00 for gravel; Otter Tail Power- $35.13 for shop electricity; Knotty Pine Bait & Gas- $39.00 for gas; Korkowski Signs and Graphics-$12.00 for road signs; West Central Petroleum-$945.00 for diesel; H & R tire-$1,748.56 for truck tires; Lakes Area Humane Society $134.46 for impound/euth; Paul Lauthen- $48.60 for mileage; Adrian Ledermann- $33.75 for mileage; Gaylin Croonquist- $36.00 for mileage; and Donald Buse- $16.20 for mileage.

  

Claims and wages were ordered to be paid with a motion by Buse, seconded by Lauthen, and carried.
