October, 2018 Meeting Minutes (Unofficial)

 

The October monthly meeting was held on October 15, 2018, at the Brandon Community Center with Supervisors Gene Fynboh and Dennis Lund present together with Treasurer Kathy Zimmerman and Clerk Mike Cleary.  Supervisor Kerby Lund was absent.  With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. The pledge of allegiance was recited by all.

 

Approval of Minutes: Reading of the minutes of the September 17, 2018 meeting was waved and the minutes were approved on a motion by Fynboh and a second by D. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Beginning cash and investment balance on 9/1/18 was $369,336.21     September, 2018 receipts and disbursements were $2,563.52 and $7,739.88, respectively, resulting in an ending balance of $364,159.85 at 9/30/18.  A motion to approve the treasurer's report and to transfer $25,000 from the general fund to the road and bridge fund was made by D. Lund and seconded by Fynboh.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval of Agenda:  The agenda was approved as presented on a motion by Fynboh and a second by D. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Wolf Creek Rd Area Paving Project: 

 

a.    The minutes of the October 13, 2018 public hearing were approved on a motion by Fynboh and a second by D. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

b.   General discussion was held regarding the public hearing on October 13, 2018.  It was noted from a show of hands of the 36 property owners in attendance that the majority were in favor of the project.

 

c.    Township Engineer Jeff Stabnow stated that he could bid the project using a 7 ton spec with an alternative spec of 9 ton on Wolf Creek only.  He estimated that paving Wolf Creek Road to a 9 ton spec would add about $105,000 to the total project cost.

 

Road and Equipment Issues:

 

a.     D. Lund and Cleary drove all of the township gravel roads on 10/5/18 and noted a number of roads that will need gravel next spring as well as a number of signs that need work.

 

b.    There were no equipment issues.  Plow trucks have been DOT inspected and are ready for snow. 

 

 

 

New Business:

 

a.    There were five new building permits to review including two new houses. 

 

Claims and Wages: Claims totaling $23,752.10 were reviewed and approved together with a motion to transfer $20,000 from the Money Market to the Checking Account on a motion by D. Lund and seconded by Fynboh.  Motion carried unanimously. The full list of claims is available for public inspection in the Township Clerk’s office.

 

Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 pm on a motion by Fynboh and seconded by D. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.
