June 18, 2018 MEETING MINUTES (Unofficial)

 

The June monthly meeting was held on June 18, 2018, at the Brandon Community Center with Supervisors Gene Fynboh, Kerby Lund and Dennis Lund present together with Treasurer Kathy Zimmerman and Clerk Mike Cleary.  With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. The pledge of allegiance was recited by all.

 

Approval of Minutes: Reading of the minutes of the May 21, 2018 meeting was waved and the minutes were approved on a motion by K. Lund and a second by D. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Beginning cash and investment balance on 5/1/18 was $369,616.04. May, 2018 receipts and disbursements were $1,530.81 and $33,038.64, respectively, resulting in an ending balance of $338,108.21 at 5/31/18.  The fund balances at the end of the month were as follows:  General Fund $47,737.20, Road & Bridge Fund $25,565.71, Fire Fund $25,763.44, Paved Road Reserve Fund $101,810.96, Equipment Reserve Fund $51,360.99 and Debt Service Fund $85,869.91.  The treasurer's report was approved on a motion by D. Lund and a second by K. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval of Agenda:  The agenda was approved as presented on a motion by K. Lund and a second by D. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Road and Equipment Issues:

 

a.     There were no equipment issues.  Work is progressing on removing frost boils on Long Lake Rd and Halvorson RD.  Tanglewood Rd frost boil will be addressed soon.  Dennis will start weed spraying this week.  Chloride is scheduled to arrive on 6/25/18.  Dennis and Mike have fixed a number of signs with a few more to be installed this week.  A request to install a culvert on Aldrich Lake Crt was received and will be handled by K. Lund

 

New Business:

 

a.    There were five new building permits to review.    

 

b.   Mike and Kathy will attend the MAT Summer Specialized Training in Fergus Falls on 6/25/18.

 

c.    It was noted that the “Supervisor A” position held by Gene Fynboh is up for election this year.  Cleary will prepare a legal notice to be published for this opening.  The filing period for the position is open from July 31st to August 14th.

 

d.   The MN State Demographer has issued the April 1, 2017 population and household estimates for Brandon Township.  The population estimate in 741 and the household estimate is 309.

 

e.   A propane contract request was received from CHS.  It was decided to go with the same gallons as last year at a cost of $1.349 per gallon.

 

Claims and Wages: Claims totaling $26,010.86 were reviewed and approved on a motion by Fynboh and seconded by K. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously. The full list of claims is available for public inspection in the Township Clerk’s office.

 

Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 pm on a motion by Fynboh and seconded by K. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.
