May 21, 2018 MEETING MINUTES (Unofficial)

 

The May monthly meeting was held on May 21, 2018, at the Brandon Community Center with Supervisors Gene Fynboh, Kerby Lund and Dennis Lund present together with Treasurer Kathy Zimmerman and Clerk Mike Cleary.  With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. The pledge of allegiance was recited by all.

 

Approval of Minutes: Reading of the minutes of the April 16, 2018 and May 7, 2108 meetings was waved and the minutes were approved on a motion by K. Lund and a second by D. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Beginning cash and investment balance on 4/1/18 was $373,388.99. April, 2018 receipts and disbursements were $185.24 and $3,958.20, respectively, resulting in an ending balance of $369,616.04 at 4/30/18.  The fund balances at the end of the month were as follows:  General Fund $59,571.19, Road & Bridge Fund $45,425.51, Fire Fund $25,577.48, Paved Road Reserve Fund $101,810.96, Equipment Reserve Fund $51,360.99 and Debt Service Fund $85,869.91.  The treasurer's report was approved on a motion by K. Lund and a second by Fynboh.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Approval of Agenda:  The agenda was approved as presented on a motion by Fynboh and a second by K. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Road and Equipment Issues:

 

a.     The findings from the road inspection performed on Friday, May 11, 2018 were discussed and a motion was make by K. Lund and seconded by D. Lund to proceed with the graveling, signs and culvert repairs noted on the listing as revised. Motion carried unanimously.

 

b.    Quotes received from Midwest Asphalt for various road repairs were reviewed and approved on a motion by K. Lund with a second by D. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

c.     Bids received from Chuck Olson Excavating for repairs to Tanglewood Rd and Long Lake Rd were reviewed and approved on a motion by K. Lund with a second by D. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.  K. Lund will tell Chuck to hold off on building the Tanglewood Road turnaround until details are worked out with the property owner. 

 

d.    There were 8 visitors present to discuss and express opinions on alternate methods of repairing frost boils, grading of roads and application of chloride.  No motions were made as a result of the items discussed.

 

 

 

New Business:

 

a.    Peterson Lawn Service has agreed to mow Edgewood Cemetery again in 2018 at the same rate as last year.  Hiring Peterson Lawn Service was approved on a motion by K. Lund with a second by Fynboh.  Motion carried unanimously.  Cleary agreed to contact them on mowing behind the township garage when they mow the adjoining property for Bill Ness.    

 

b.   Cleary presented a listing of names for consideration to serve as Election Judges in 2018.  A motion to approve the hiring and to also pay for mileage to training in Alexandria, MN was approved on a motion by K. Lund with a second by Fynboh.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Claims and Wages: Claims totaling $32,938.51 were reviewed and approved on a motion by Fynboh and seconded by K. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously. The full list of claims is available for public inspection in the Township Clerk’s office.

 

Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 pm on a motion by Fynboh and seconded by K. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.
