Brandon Township Meeting, Monday, May 7, 2018

MAY 7, 2018 SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES 

 

A Special Meeting was held on May 7, 2018, at the Brandon Community Center with Supervisor Gene Fynboh, Supervisor Dennis Lund, Treasurer Kathy Zimmerman and Clerk Mike Cleary present.  Supervisor Kerby Lund joined the meeting at approximately 6:40 pm.  With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm. The pledge of allegiance was recited by all.

 

Tanglewood Road Paving Project:  A large frost boil has developed on this road which needs to be tiled.  At the same time, there is an old culvert under to road is this general area which needs to be replaced.  It was discussed and agreed that these repairs needed to settle for a year before paving could be commenced.

 

A motion was made by D. Lund and seconded by Fynboh to instruct the township engineer to cancel obtaining bids to pave Tanglewood Rd in 2018.that would be opened at the May 21st meeting.  The motion carried with Fynboh and D. Lund voting favorably.  K. Lund was absent at the time of the vote.  Motion carried.

 

A motion was then made by Fynboh and seconded by D. Lund to cancel the Public Hearing to review bids and decide whether to proceed with the paving of Tanglewood Rd that was scheduled for May 21, 2018.  The motion carried with Fynboh and D. Lund voting favorably.  K. Lund was absent at the time of the vote.  Motion carried.

 

Midwest Asphalt Repair Quotes:

 

Cleary reported that he and K. Lund had toured the township’s paved roads with a representative from Midwest Asphalt to examine areas that needed repair.  Quotes were received and discussed for crack sealing on Sara Rd and on Bear Trail Road and for areas repairs on Bear Trail, Chippewa Heights, Wallen and Shorewood Drive.   There were three residents from Shorewood in attendance to voice their concerns.  A decision will be made at the regular monthly meeting on May 21, 2018 whether to accept these bids.

 

Date for Road Inspection:

 

A firm date was not set but rather it was agreed that the supervisors would get together on a day which K. Lund could not get into the field.  They would take notes on possible repairs to be discussed and decided upon at the May 21, 2018 meeting.
