November, 2017 PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES

 

The Special Assessment Hearing for the Big Chip Road Area 2017 Paving Project Assessments was held on November 20, 2017, at the Brandon Community Center with Supervisor Gene Fynboh, Supervisor Kerby Lund, Supervisor Dennis Lund, Treasurer Kathy Zimmerman and Clerk Mike Cleary present.  With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order at 6:40 pm. The pledge of allegiance was recited by all.  

 

The Clerk’s report on notices posted and letters sent was reviewed.  Since there were no residents present to question the assessments, Resolution 11-20-17 was approved on a motion by Fynboh and a second by K. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.  See resolution attached.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 6:47 pm on a motion by Fynboh and seconded by K. Lund.  Motion carried unanimously.

Resolution 11-20-17D Approving Big Chip Road Area

2017 Paving Project Assessments

 

 

WHEREAS:  The 2017 Big Chip Road Area Paving Project has been completed and all bills have been paid.

 

WHEREAS:  Proper notices have been sent to all property owners owning parcels abutting the affected roads and a public hearing has been held on November 20, 2017.

 

AND WHEREAS:  The listing of property owners together with the assessment for each parcel is available at the Brandon Township Clerk’s office.     

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE BOARD OF BRANDON TOWNSHIP, DOUGLAS COUNTY, MINNESOTA:

 

1.     Set the total assessment for the Big Chip Road Area 2017 Paving Project at $270,700.00 and that an assessment of $3,800.00 be levied for each full parcel and an assessment of $1,900.00 be levied for each parcel assessed at the 50% level.

 

2.    Accept a parcel owner’s full or partial payment of the assessment made directly to Brandon Township prior to November 20, 2017.

 

3.    Direct the Brandon Township Clerk to forward to the Douglas County Treasurer all remaining unpaid assessments as a special tax assessed to each parcel payable over 5 years with interest of 3% per annum.

 

4.    That the Brandon Township Clerk keep on record all payment received or unpaid assessment amounts forwarded to the Douglas County Assessor.

 

ADOPTED BY THE BRANDON TOWNSHIP BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ON NOVEMBER 20, 2017.
