Tanglewood Road Public Hearing Meeting Minutes

September 18, 2017

The Public Hearing for residents included in the Tanglewood Road Area 2018 Paving Project was held on September 18, 2017, at the Brandon Community Center with Supervisor Gene Fynboh, Supervisor Kerby Lund, Supervisor Dennis Lund, Treasurer Kathy Zimmerman and Clerk Mike Cleary present.  With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm. The pledge of allegiance was recited.

Clerk Cleary noted that all residents had been mailed a notice of the meeting together with an engineer feasibility cost estimate, a map of the proposed assessment area and a preliminary draft of cost sharing and assessments. He further stated that this mailing was delivered to the post office on September 5, 2017 and that the Public Hearing Notices had been published in the Sept. 7, 2017 and Sept. 14, 2017 issues of The West Douglas County Record.

Supervisor Fynboh stated that the purpose of the meeting was to update the residents on the status of the proposed paving project and to listen to any concerns and questions.  It was noted that, in accordance with Township Policy, an engineering feasibility study was ordered after receiving a petition in April, 2017 signed by 50% of the residents owning property on Tanglewood Road to determine the financial feasibility of paving said road.  It was decided at that time to install additional drainage tile in the road in 2017 and to postpone a paving project to 2018 to give the excavation and fill time to settle.

There were approximately 13 residents in attendance of which approximately half spoke in favor of the project and approximately half spoke against the project.  No decision was made by the supervisors at the meeting.  All of the concerns raised by the residents will be considered prior to making a decision to proceed or not.  The attendees were advised to check the published meeting agendas on the Township website for future discussion and were encouraged to call or write the township officials if they had any additional concerns or questions.

Chair Fynboh thanked everyone for coming and adjourned the Public Hearing at 7:10 pm.
