Brandon Township Meeting, Monday, August 21, 2017
August, 2017 MEETING MINUTES
The August monthly meeting was held on August 21, 2017, at the Brandon Community Center with Supervisor Gene Fynboh, Supervisor Kerby Lund, Supervisor Dennis Lund, Treasurer Kathy Zimmerman and Clerk Mike Cleary present. With a quorum present, the meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. The pledge of allegiance was recited by all.
Approval of Minutes: Reading of the minutes of the July 17, 2017 meeting was waved and the minutes were approved on a motion by K. Lund and a second by D. Lund. Motion carried unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report: Beginning cash and investment balance on 7/1/17 was $386,045.44. July, 2017 receipts and disbursements were $301,712.04 and $9,465.31, respectively, resulting in an ending balance of $678,292.17 at 7/31/17. The treasurer's report was approved on a motion by Fynboh and a second by D. Lund. Motion carried unanimously.
Visitors Questions and Concerns: There were 4 visitor present.
Approval of Agenda: The agenda was approved as presented on a motion by Fynboh and a second by K. Lund. Motion carried unanimously.
Road and Equipment Issues:
a. Equipment and road updates were given and discussed. Bob Walsh and Dale Walsh were present to discuss weed/brush spraying and steps to be taken to control Wild Parsnip. Lynn Bushard, Supervisor with Moe Township, was present to discuss the flooding on Pheasant Lane, a Brandon/Moe Township Town Line Road. It was agreed that he and Kerby Lund would contact the Douglas County Ditch Inspector, Tom Anderson, to see what could be done to improve drainage from this area via the county ditch.
Big Chip Road Area 2017 Paving Project:
b. Jeff Stabnow was present to discuss the Big Chip Road Area Paving Project scheduled to start later this week.
c. Cleary reported that the bonds had been sold and sufficient funds were on hand to pay for the project.
Tanglewood Road Area 2018 Paving Project:
a. It was noted that the drainage issues had been corrected and that the road would be ready for blacktop in 2018.
b. Cleary will mail and publish notices of the Public Hearing scheduled for 6:30 pm on September 18, 2017.
a. There were three new building permits to review. Cleary noted that the new building permit forms no longer included the value of the improvements permitted and that he could no longer track the additional investment being made to the township tax base via these improvements. Cleary has contacted Dave Rush at the County but has not yet received a reply.
Claims and Wages: Claims totaling $35,821.69 were reviewed and approved on a motion by K. Lund and seconded by D. Lund. Motion carried unanimously. The full list of claims is available for public inspection in the Township Clerk’s office
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:12 pm on a motion by D. Lund and seconded by Fynboh. Motion carried unanimously.
