Brandon Township Monthly Meeting Minutes

February 16, 2016

 

The February monthly meeting was held on February 16, 2016, at the Brandon Community Center with Mike Cleary, Gaylin Croonquist, Kerby Lund and Adrian Ledermann present. The meeting was called to order by Croonquist at 7:20 p.m. The pledge of allegiance was recited.

 

Clerks Report: The minutes of the January 19th meeting were addressed. The reading of the minutes were waved and approved on a motion by Lund seconded by Croonquist, and carried.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Beginning balance on 1/1/2015 was $16,268.87. Receipts were $3,221.24. Disbursements were $3,162.98, leaving a balance of $16,327.13. Investments reported included Tar & Road Fund received $10.57 in interest to now total $328,107.07 which includes three CDs. Info on the county road tax distribution was provided. The treasurer's report was then approved on a motion by Lund, seconded by Croonquist, and approved.

 

Public Comment: Jeff Stabnow was present to present info on seeking bids for paving projects.

 

Agenda Approval: The agenda was approved on a motion by Lund, seconded by Croonquist, and carried.

 

Old Business:

a. Road report: Snow plowing and sanding are continuing. New blades have been purchased and are being installed on the snow plow.

b. Lund reported attending the AAEDC annual meeting and tour.

c. Road edge retriever. After further info was received and discussed, on a motion by Lund, seconded by Croonquist and carried, Brandon Township will cooperate with Evansville Township to purchase a retriever for a half share of up to $3,500.

 

New Business

a. Ottertail Power bore under Lake Aldrich Ct: letter and map was provided.

b. Board of Appeal Date. Douglas County Assessor notified Brandon Township that our date is set for April 12, 1 pm at the Brandon Community Center.

c. Tax forfeited land available in Brandon Township. Brandon Township has no interest in said parcel.

d. Minnesota Benefit life insurance coverage. On a motion by Lund, seconded by Croonquist and carried, town officers will continue under the Silver plan of $10,000.

e. The agenda was set for the Annual Township meeting on March 8.

f. Clerk notes included LTAP info and request from Someplace Safe for funding.

 

Claims and Wages: Claims included: H&R Block-$140.00 for 1099 prep; Glens Towing-$362.24 for truck repair; Douglas County Public Works-$444.83 for salt/sand; City of Brandon-$60.05 for water/sewer; Ottertail Power-$51.98 for shop electricity; Luckys Propane-$400.86 for propane and $575.00 for plowing wages. Claims and wages were approved on a motion by Lund, seconded by Croonquist, and carried with aye votes from Croonquist, and Lund.

 

Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm on a motion by Lund, seconded by Croonquist and carried.
