Brandon Township Meeting Minutes

February 17, 2015


The February monthly meeting was held on February 17, 2015 at the Brandon Community Center with Gene Fynboh, Mike Cleary, Gaylin Croonquist, Kerby Lund and Adrian Ledermann present. The meeting was called to order by Fynboh at 7:20 p.m.


Clerks Report: The minutes of the January 20th meeting were addressed. The reading of the minutes were waved and approved on a motion by Croonquist, seconded by Lund, and carried.


Treasurer’s Report: Beginning balance on 01/1/2015 was $37,364.07. Receipts were $3,758.07. Orders issued were $1,380.24 leaving a balance of $39,741.90. Investments reported included Tar & Road Fund received $3.51 in interest, to now total $237,656.36 which includes two CDs. The treasurer's report was then approved on a motion by Fynboh, seconded by Lund, and approved.


Public Comment: No visitors present.


Agenda Approval: The agenda was approved on a motion by Croonquist, seconded by Lund and carried.


Old Business:

a. Road report. Bitzan and Lund have done some sand spreading and refilled the truck with salt/sand. Lund has set up a 5 gallon bucket with sand on Nursery Lane. A mail box post was knocked down by the snow plow on Big Chip road. Clerk will notify the resident to have him replace the post and sent the township a bill.

b. Croonquist and Ledermann attended and reported on the annual AAEDC meeting held on January 26, 2015.


New Business:

a. On building permit was reviewed.

b. The Annual Town meeting was discussed. Clerk will post and do article promoting attendance in The Record.

c. Douglas County meeting announcement notes were shared.

d. Group Life policy from Minnesota Benefit Association was reviewed. Kerby Lund will be added to the list. On a motion by Fynboh, seconded by Croonquist, and carried, the coverage was increased to $10,000.

e. Road paving policies: Clerk reported on further contact and info from Jeff Stabnow, who provided added info and a proposed draft to be presented at the annual meeting for discussed was accepted..

f. The need for new front tires on the grader was discussed with a decision on whether to purchase and seek estimates will be made at the March meeting.

g. Clerk notes: Land Stewardship info, MAT news info, ML Tree Service info and LTAP info were presented.


Claims and Wages: Claims included: Lucky's Propane for propane- $985.80; Minnesota Benefit for life insurance-$805.00; Otter Tail Power for shop electricity-$35.70; City of Brandon for water/sewer-$59.55; and Douglas County Public Works for salt/sand-$189.53. Wages for snow plowing totaled $650.00. Claims were ordered paid on a motion by Croonquist, seconded by Fynboh, and carried with aye votes from Lund, Fynboh, and Croonquist.


Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm on a motion by Lund; seconded Croonquist and carried..
