Brandon Township Meeting Minutes
January 20, 2015
The January monthly meeting was held on January 20, 2015 at the Brandon Community Center with Mike Cleary, Gaylin Croonquist, Kerby Lund and Adrian Ledermann present. The meeting was called to order by Croonquist at 7:00 p.m. The pledge of allegiance was recited.
Clerks Report: The minutes of the December 15th meeting were addressed. The reading of the minutes were waved and approved on a motion by Lund, seconded by Croonquist, and carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Beginning balance on 12/1/2014 was ($22,622.53). Receipts were $123,724.11. Orders issued were $63,737.51 leaving a balance of $37,364.07. Investments reported included Tar & Road Fund received $3.51 in interest, to now total $237,652.85 which includes two CDs. Cleary provided a draft of the 2014 annual report and 10 years analysis of gravel and propane costs to the township. The treasurer's report was then approved on a motion by Croonquist, seconded by Lund, and approved.
Public Comment: No visitors present.
Agenda Approval: The agenda was approved on a motion by Croonquist, seconded by Lund and carried.
a. Road report. Bitzan and Lund have done some sand spreading and refilled the truck with salt/sand. Lund has cleared up the sand barrel situation on Nursery Lane.
b. Tigen road repair: Receipt from Xcel Energy was reported
a. Board reorganization: Fynboh was reappointed chair for 2015 on a motion by Croonquist, seconded by Lund and carried. Croonquist was appointed assistant county weed inspector on a motion by Lund, seconded by Croonquist, and carried. Fynboh was appointed animal safety contact on a motion by Croonquist, seconded by Lund and carried.
b. Weed report: Clerk will complete and send to Douglas County.
c. Chloride request for 2015. Brandon Township will request 14,000 gallons for 2015 with Ledermann, Fynboh, and Croonquist as contacts. Clerk will notify private driveway residents that Brandon Township can no longer coordinate chloride spread on private driveways, but will inform those residents if they wish to contact the contractor for spread at the same time that Brandon Township roads are spread.
d. Board of Audit date: On a motion by Lund, seconded by Croonquist, and carried, the Board of Audit date was set for Tuesday, Feb 17 at 7 pm prior to the regular February monthly meeting.
e. MAT resolution requests: Brandon Township has none..
f. Road paving policies: Clerk reported on further contact and info from Jeff Stabnow. No further decisions on policy proposal at this time.
g. Clerk notes: Bitzan Backhoe insurance certificate was received; City of Brandon Wellhead protection plan has been approved. Brandon Township Board of Review date has been set for April 14th, by Douglas County.
Claims and Wages: Claims included: Glenn's Towing-$369.39 for truck repair; Peterson Lawn Service-$125.00 for Edgefield mowing; The Record-$4.50 for public notice; Otter Tail Power-$44.79 for shop electricity; Douglas County Public Works-$303.13 for salt/sand; Douglas County Auditor/treasurer-$141.88 for TNT notices; City of Brandon-$56.55 for water/sewer; Rocket Auto Electric-$121.50 for truck parts; John Peterson-$75.00 for truck repair; and H & R Block-$130.00 for 1099/W-2 form prepare.
Claims were ordered paid on a motion by Lund, seconded by Croonquist, and carried with aye votes from Lund and Croonquist.
Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:37 pm on a motion by Lund; seconded Croonquist and carried..
