Brandon Township Meeting Minutes – Jan. 15, 2008
The regular monthly meeting of the Brandon Township Board was held on Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the Brandon Community Center with Gaylin Croonquist, Don Buse, Paul Lauthen, Diane Smith and Adrian Ledermann present.
The meeting was called to order by the chair, Gaylin Croonquist at 8 p.m. The pledge of allegiance was recited.
Clerks Report: The minutes of the December meeting were addressed. The minutes were approved as read with a motion by Lauthen, seconded by Buse, and carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Beginning balance as of 12\01\07 was $5,650.64. Interest from Revenue on account at Bremer was $6.50. Other income was $30,178.19. Orders issued totaling $22,374.63, for a total ending balance of $13,460.70. Investments reported included Tar & Road Fund received $195.65 in interest to total $61,284.83; 12 month CD renewed for one year totals $54,108.63; and 18 month CD renewed for one year totals $162,755.05. Motion made by Buse, seconded by Lauthen, to approve report; carried.Public Comment: No visitors were present Old Business:
a. Buse gave a sewer update showing a new map of phase 2 area covering Big Chip, Whiskey and Devil's Lake areas including all economically feasible properties to sewer. After some discussion, no action was taken
b. Smith is working on completing the documentation for the audit of 07.
c. Ledermann reported the filing of Michael Cleary for supervisor and his own name for clerk for the coming March 11 elections. Ledermann will forward this info to the county auditor.
d. Ledermann reported on receipt for Limb road grading from Leaf Valley township.New Business:
a. Ledermann reported that the county will not do special assessments on govt. owned properties.
b. Ledermann was recommended to attend the 2008 Lobby Day on the hill on Feb. 12.
c. Annual township meeting and elections will be on March 11. Voting will be from 5 -8 p.m. with the annual meeting beginning at 8 p.m.
d. The annual county township meeting and weed info meeting will be on Wed. March 19, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
e. AEDC annual meeting will be held at Brenton on Wed. Jan 23. Croonquist, Lauthen, Buse, and Ledermann will plan to attend. AEDC rep plans to attend our annual meeting to suggest funding possibilities from Brandon Township.
f. County weed inspection report was completed by Lauthen and will be sent in by the clerk.
g. Ledermann reported insurance change endorsements have been received and will be filed.
g. County will again provide chloride. Brandon Township requests 11,000 gallons for 08. Ledermann will update name contacts and forward to County Public Works.
i. Board of Audit meeting will be set at the Feb. meeting.
Claims: Claims were presented and viewed by the board. Claims included: The Record-$12.59 for notice publishing; Luckys- $1035.44 for propane; Austins Auto- $209.56 for repairs on grader; Douglas County Assn of Townships- $598.46 for 2008 dues; Korkowski Signs- $55.56 for road signs; Otter Tail Power- $81.75 for shop electricity; Post Office- $82.00 for stamps; Douglas County Treasurer - $124.98 for TNT notices; Pera- $159.26 for 4th qt; and IRS-$509.54 for4th fica.
Claims and wages were ordered to be paid with a motion by Lauthen, seconded by Buse, and carried.Meeting adjourned at 9:15; motion by Buse, seconded by Lauthen.Adrian Ledermann, clerk.
