Brandon Township Meeting Minutes
July 15, 2013
The July monthly meeting was held on July 15, 2013 at the Brandon Community Center with Paul Lauthen, Gaylin Croonquist, Gene Fynboh, Mike Cleary and Adrian Ledermann present. The meeting was called to order by Lauthen at 7:00 p.m. The pledge of allegiance was recited.
Clerks Report: The minutes of the June 17th meeting were addressed. The reading of the minutes were waved and then approved on a motion by Fynboh, seconded by Croonquist, and carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Beginning balance on 06/01/2013 was $11,645.80. Interest from Revenue on account at Bremer was $.14. Transfer from Money Market was $70,000.00. Orders issued were $70,843.60 for a total ending balance of $10,843.60. Investments reported included Tar & Road Fund received $3.91 in interest, and a transfer of $70,000.00 to checking to now total $127,574.76. On a motion by Croonquist, seconded by Fynboh, and carried, the treasurer’s report was approved.
Public Comment: None present
Agenda Approval: The agenda was approved on a motion by Croonquist, seconded by Fynboh, and carried.
a. Road report: Graveling has been completed; Some tree trimming completed, more needed on Moon Lake Rd, Kimberly Rd, and Severson Rd: (Cleary will contact Klimeks); Lauthen and Croonquist have completed half of sign removal; Kimberly Rd culvert situation is on hold; Walleye Road tiling blockage is now somewhat cleared (Landowners will need to do tunneling after township permission if further blockage.)
b. chloride spread is completed; billing is completed and receipts are coming in.
c. Assessing four year contract with Douglas County has been accepted by Douglas County.
a. Three land use permits were reviewed.
b. Brandon Wellhead Protection Project was reviewed. No need for action by Brandon Township.
c. CTAS Version 8 and support was approved on a motion by Lauthen, seconded by Croonquist and carried.
d. Request for Brandon Township ordinance review was discussed; but Brandon Township has no ordinances relating to law enforcement. Clerk will inform Douglas County.
e. Clerk notes included: Letter from Sen. Westrom on CTAS supporting law and July 10 town meeting with local legislators report- a good meeting with 25 people in attendance discussing local concerns with our legislators.
Claims and Wages: Claims included: Minnesota State Auditor-$300.00 for CTAS; West Central Petroleum-$1,660.26 for diesel; Gardonville-$14.95 for internet; City of Brandon-$58.55 for water/sewer; Okerlund Graveling-$15,457.50 for gravel; Otter Tail Power-$25.28 for shop electricity; IRS-$1,003.45 for 2nd Qt. taxes; PERA-$194.00 for 2nd Qt; Paul Lauthen-$612.50 for tractor rental for mowing; Minnesota Revenue-$100.00 for taxes; and $1,190 for salaries and wages. Claims and wages were ordered paid on a motion by Fynboh, seconded by Croonquist and carried.
