Brandon Township Meeting Minutes

March 19, 2013

The March monthly meeting was held on March 19, 2013 at the Brandon Community Center with Mike Cleary, Paul Lauthen, Gaylin Croonquist, Gene Fynboh and Adrian Ledermann present. The meeting was called to order by Lauthen at 7:00 p.m. The pledge of allegiance was recited.

Clerks Report: The minutes of the February 19 meeting were addressed. The reading of the minutes were waved and then approved on a motion by Fynboh, seconded by Croonquist, and carried.

Treasurer’s Report: Beginning balance on 02/01/2013 was $20,392.07. Interest from Revenue on account at Bremer was $.21. Other income was $18,086.54 from county taxes town road distribution. Orders issued were $2,090.80 for a total ending balance of $36,388.02. Investments reported included Tar & Road Fund received $4.55 in interest, to now total $197,561.41. On a motion by Croonquist, seconded by Lauthen, and carried, the treasurer’s report was approved.

Public Comment: none

Agenda Approval: The agenda was approved on a motion by Croonquist, seconded by Fynboh, and carried.

Old Business:

a. Road report: Snow removal and sanding with gravel have been done on all roads, due to severe ice and snowplowing needs. Some roads need further work. John Ledermann was contracted to blow snow on some severely blocked roads.

b. Annual Meeting followup: Annual meeting went well with 16 attendees. Letters requested about Chippewa Park development have been sent to Lieffort and Johnson.

c. McNamar letter in response to Brandon Township request for support of CTAS was read.

e. Excel Energy letter about request to use Brandon Township roads for construction was signed by chair Lauthen.

New Business:

a. Land use permits: none were reviewed.

b. Short Course at Arrowwood: All 5 board members plan to attend. Clerk Ledermann will bring check to cover cost.

c. Gravel quotes: Clerk will publish request for gravel quotes for 2013.

Claims and Wages: Claims and wages requests were presented and viewed by the board. Claims included: Glenn's Towing-$700.00 for towing snow equipment; The Record-$4.50 for legal notice; Douglas County Public Works-$1,810.56 for salt/sand; Otter Tail Power-$41.57 for shop electricity; City of Brandon-$58.55 for water/sewer; Tim Otto-$78.75 for gopher bounty; Snow-Wheel System-$250.81 for snow tires; Adrian Ledermann-$53.90 for office supply and mileage; Gaylin Croonquist-$30.79 for shop reimbursements; Michael Cleary-$156.00 for mileage; John Ledermann-$200.00 for snowplowing; Anderson Excavating-$210.00 for shop repair and Minnesota Association of Townships-$200.00 for workshops; Claims and wages were ordered to be paid on a motion by Fynboh, seconded by Croonquist and carried.

Friday, March 29, 2013, 10:00 am. MAT Short Course at Arrowwood

Tuesday, April 9, 2013, 1 pm Board of Appeal at Brandon Community Center.

Monday, April 15, 2013 7 pm, April monthly meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 pm on a motion by Croonquist, seconded by Lauthen, and carried.
