Brandon Township Meeting Minutes Monday, November 21, 2011 The regular monthly meeting of the Brandon Township Board was held on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 at the Brandon Community Center with Paul Lauthen, Michael Cleary, Gene Fynboh, Diane Smith and Adrian Ledermann present.  The meeting was called to order by Mike Cleary at 7:00 p.m.  The pledge of allegiance was recited. Clerks Report:  The minutes of the Oct. 17th meeting were addressed.   The minutes were approved on a motion by Fynboh, seconded by Cleary, and carried. Treasurer’s Report:  Beginning balance on 10/01/2011 was $4,350.21.   Interest from Revenue on account at Bremer was $.15.  Other income was $298.00.  Orders issued were $3,785.82 for a total ending balance of $862.54.  Investments reported included Tar & Road Fund received $25.78 in interest to now total $202,369.68.   Motion made by Lauthen, seconded by Fynboh, and carried, to approve report. Public Comment: no visitors were present. Agenda Approval:  The agenda was approved with no additional items on a motion by Cleary, seconded by Fynboh, and approved. Old Business:  a. Road update:  Ledermann reported that he had hauled the sofa away from Hedeen Road and that Okerlund had hauled gravel on Whiskey Lake Dr.  Ledermann was directed to contact Okerlund about recent gravel bill. Lauthen reported that he had hired Blacky Bitzan to remove the concrete on Long Lake Road right of way.  b. Road sign update:  Cleary reported that Stabnow had called and is now doing sign engineering for neighboring townships and that a common sign policy is now available on the MAT web site.  Ledermann reported that he had sent letters to Brandon Township sharing township line agreements and that Ida, Moe, and Millerville had responded to present agreements. c.  Cleary and Ledermann attended the AAEDC meeting in Alexandria with an informative speaker on manufacturing while sharing a good breakfast.d.  Cleary and Ledermann also attended the West Central Initiative breakfast at Long Lake Lodge.  The discussion was about what was going well in the area and what the challenges are for these communities.e.  Ledermann reported that all resident chloride reimbursements have been received. New Business:a. One land use permit was reviewed.b. Ledermann has responded to Douglas County's special assessments request and indicated that he had forwarded the special assessments for chloride on the Big Chip/Hedeen/Eagle Pt. Dr. roads.c.  MATIT insurance policy for the new year has been received along with cab card for the truck.d. The community room for the 2012 township meetings has been reserved with the City of Brandon.  Monthly meetings in January and February will be on the 3rd Tuesday due to legal holidays.  Clerk will notify The Record.   March 13 will be the annual meeting.e. Treasurer Smith reported that IRS will still looking for penalty fee due to a change of address last April and the Post Office returning the check late.  The Board decided to authorize payment of the penalty.f. Clerk notes included info on Ziegler Cat new rep. LTAP workshops and MAT calendar on line. Claims and Wages:  Claims and wages requests were presented and viewed by the board.  Claims included:  M-R Sign-$111.20 for signs; Douglas County Public Works for chloride-$13,545.53; Otter Tail Power-$13.35 for shop electricity; Bremer Bank-$54,963.29 for bond repayment; Alexandria Area Economic Development-$2,400 for contribution; Okerlund Graveling-$555.00 for gravel; City of Brandon-$24,000 for fire protection; IRS-$32.42 for tax penalty; Etc. Signs and Apparel-$$51.30 for signs; and  Evansville Machine -$50.00 for truck repair. Claims and Wages were ordered to be paid while holding the checks on some venders until the December tax check has been received, on a motion by Fynboh, seconded by Lauthen, and approved. The meeting was adjourned at 7:33 p.m. on a motion by Lauthen, seconded by Cleary. Next monthly meeting will be on Monday, December 19, 2011, 7p.m. at the Brandon Community Center. Adrian Ledermann, clerk
